Should Controversial Imam Be Kept Out of Canada?, Bullet Misses Boy, Moscoe Being Smeared?

The Star reports on the visit of controversial British Imam Sheik Riyadh ul-Haq, who has publicly vilified Jews and Hindus in speeches. There are calls for Immigration Minister Monte Solberg to deny him his entry. He's made four previous visits to Canada and many in the Muslim community defend him as a legitimate and well-regarded speaker.

Torontoist's Moscoe Monitor has gone off again. This time it's his comments that "right-wing crazies" are organizing a smear campaign about a trip to Israel he took eight years ago to promote the idea of building a subway in Tel Aviv. Councillor Karen Stintz argued that Moscoe went on the trip to promote Bombardier regardless of the fact that his trip was paid for by the Israeli government and the federal government.

so, i know that with capitalism and everything, the highest bidder wins and everything, but, i mean, seems to me like moscoe is promoting funds to a canadian company... is that so wrong? i'm sure he gets a cut, but, that's capitalism too isn't it? i dunno.. the dude seems kinda shady, admittedly i haven't read his biography or anything, so i'm not an expert on the subject, but if canada bought everything in-house, our economy might be a little better instead of settling for the cheapest, why not settle for the most canadian?

As far as the Imam is concerned, I have to (on a rare note) agree with Tony Blair here: we must prevent the spread of a "culture of hate" by keeping racists and bigots out of the country we live in.
