MMVAs Take Over Queen West This Sunday, You’re Warned

If this green arrow were real it would crush several hundred teenie boppers and a few dozen talentless musicians on Sunday. Sadly, it’s not real. What is very real is the Much Music Video Awards and the resulting noise from screaming adoring fans and traffic confusion from out-of-towners who forgot that MuchMusic actually occupies real space and once a year holds a large award ceremony.
Guests this year include Paris Hilton (and the resulting crowd of Parisites), Tori Spelling (how is she still around?), Elisha Cuthbert, Kardinal Offishall and a long list of bands that Torontoist is too old to have heard of.
Ed Note. Torontoist doesn’t actually condone the crushing of teenie boppers with large arrows or any other object. We do, however, condone discussion of who sucks more: MuchMusic or MTV.

    That bullshit b-list crawl-to-the-bottom Fest is happening right out my window as I write this and after ‘performances’ by Simple Plan and that Colours guy I’m really looking forward to Nick Lachey (though I’ve never heard his music). He can’t possibly be as bad as they were.
    At least last year had the Fire.
    Seriously, what’s with the dismal guest list? Is MTV threatening to boycott whoever plays it?
    Even the Junos had Coldplay and they’re the friggen J-U-N-O-S.
    The toilet at a Film Festival party has a more impressive guest list.

    God, yeah, this is BRUTAL. I mean, BRUTAL, the VJs are all especially awful. I can’t believe Hannah Sung asked Jessie Metcalfe – the first question as he leaves his car on the red carpet – what the craziest place he’s ever been shirtless is.
    Seriously.
    “So, Jessie, what’s the strangest place you’ve ever been shirtless?”
    He was dazed, couldn’t think of an answer, and said: “That’s a pretty random question.”
    Yeah, no shit. This is the lamest shit I’ve ever seen. I pray the second half will be better.

    You like Fallout Boy? That guy’s penis is all over the internet, and also they suck. These award shows seemed so IMPORTANT to me when I was in grade seven. I remember when Ben Stiller hosted the MTV Movie Awards – I taped it! I feel so old.
