Go West Where the Skies are Blue

Playful Parkdale's Peppy Party

Toronto Pride is touted as the biggest in Canada... North America... or the world or something. Every queer and their mother told me this tidbit before I moved here, so I had to come and see. After having a great time at the parties and the Church and the community festivities, I checked out the parade. After being pelted with a Gillette® razor, Trojan® condoms and some Naya® water from the passing floats, I thought... there has to be something more. After all, this Torontoist is no size queen.

Well, this Saturday, June 10, is Pride West (or Pride Toronto West, or Queer West Village Pride, or perhaps Greater Parkdale Area Pride?) The festivities begin with the Annual Toronto Pride Ride at noon with the Gay West Bike Club. This is followed by a Community Fair & Marketplace, capping the day with the Parkdale Queer Pride Party upstairs at the Rhino.

Check their site out for more info on Parkdale Queers and Pride West.

I highly recommend going to the Dyke March, regardless of your gender or orientation. It still has much the same spirit as pride days of old.
