City Loses Its Friendliest Voice

harold.jpgFinancial stability and the weather don’t mix, according to CityTV. After returning from a four week holiday, Harold Hosein, the station’s super popular long-time weatherman received a phone call telling him not to come into work. Harold says no reason for his departure was given, but CityTV are using the old “he wants to become a financial planner” excuse. Harold says he’s not a financial planner, and besides, we can still hear his warm and friendly voice on 680 News.

    all i can say is THANK GOD. now if only 680 news would do the same thing, i would be one happy man!
    it never fails — i wait and wait for the weather report, and then when harold comes on to report it, his voice puts me in some sort of trance-like state, and i have no idea what the weather is!
    don’t tell me i’m the only one who has experienced this listening to his weather reports!

    I am a big fan of weather and Harold was not only a professional (in an age of vapid smiling faces) but has a voice with the mysterious ability to comfort me while I was cowering in the most windowless part of my first apartment in Toronto, months after moving to this city, while crazyman winds threw buildings into heaps of brick just up the road from my house. That’s no way to treat anybody, CityTV — and please don’t hire Bill Coulter. He’s too awkward.

    I find I get mesmerized by the endless weather reports for across half of Ontario that CBC Radio puts out during its off-peak hours. By the time they get to the tiny town I live in, I’ve tuned out. And then I check the Internet. Is Internet still spelt with a capital I, or did we stop doing that?

    Funny how attached we get to our weather people. While Michael Kuss is my #1, Harold is also awesome. Nobody deserves to be let go this way. Down with the new weatherman! :P

    Hurlbut called Kuss “engaging” and “a perfect fit.” (…) “He’s a full, blue-blooded meteorologist,” said Hurlbut.
    So… he’s white, in other words.
    This leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.

    Firing Harold for no apparent reason is a textbook case for the Labour Board.
    His contract apparently ran till the end of August. I hate to tell Mr. Hurlbut this, but this is only June 26th. Fork out the chequebook and keep an eye out for the process server!
    As for this Kuss charactor, watched him before, drives me nuts, don’t like him! I’ll go back to Dave Davall on CFTO.
    I think City should be know as Trap Door TV….Ben Chin, Dave Pinton, Nadine Powell, and now Harold. Whose next…God help them if its Liza Fromer when she comes back from Mat leave, or Liz West, for that matter!
