    I used to work in the city-hall thing there… it’s a neat space, but there’s not a lot of room for growth, cause it’s hemmed in by major roads and the Scarborough Town Centre. And it gets damned hot in the summer.
    I still think it’s criminally under-used and appreciated.

    Creating public spaces like this in suburbia are a good idea, but I think it will be a challenge. Malls like the Town Centre have already taken on the role of shared public space for most people, and they have food courts and air conditioning.
    I suspect it’ll be well-used during special major events like concerts or New Years celebrations, but the rest of the time it’ll just be a frozen and/or sun-baked expanse of concrete that only the occassional lost soul wanders across to get to the mall or a parking lot.
