More Shootings, Celebrating Baisakhi, The Puglys are Back

2006_5_1chantel.jpgA driver of a black Grand Am cut off a TTC bus and took shots at three people waiting for the bus. Fortunately no one was hit. Sadly, the shooting happened just blocks away from a memorial for a young woman killed earlier in February. The Star has the story here and the Sun doesn't get left behind.

A couple of people are going to ruin garage sales for the rest of us. The city is trying to pass a proposal where households are limited to two garage sales a year. Their complaint? A few people have been masquerading their business as a garage sale, opening week after week. We wonder why the city doesn't have anything better to do?

Sikhs celebrate Baisakhi at Nathan Phillips Square. Every other politico in the country seems to show up. The speakers list included everyone from Dalton to Jack Layton and Bev Oda.

Those dastardly immigration officials are using schoolchildren as bait to get parents who might be in the country illegally. The Catholic District Schoolboard are not taking it lying down and is threatening to sue the federal government.

The Pugly, an award for the ugliest and prettiest new building in Toronto, is open for voting. The Post writes about it here and Spacing has a nice little blurb too.
