He Could Eat a Knob at Night

pilkingtonpin.jpgBriton Karl Pilkington - an unlikely cult figure even for Queen Street - is now available in pin-form at Pages Books & Magazines.

For those out of the loop, Mr. Pilkington is the oddball star of a weekly, once-free Ricky Gervais pod-cast. Mr. Pilkington thinks gay people stay out too late on the weekends, and says Asian people don't age well. Despite these views, he's become something of a world-wide phenomenon. A mark of Mr. Pilkington's unspoken notoriety in Toronto can be seen in the Pages' sales pitch for the pins: the only description is Mr. Pilkington's name and his famously absurd catch phrase, "I could eat a knob at night." Mr. Pilkington originally said this in reference to having to eat the penis of a kangaroo. The phrase evidently caught on. (The 1" pins, pictured above, sell for $2.)

This new Pages-made pin is, as far as we know, the first bit of Pilkington paraphernalia to hit Toronto as of yet. It's also probably some sort of copyright violation (shhhh!).

As more evidence of Pilkington's pervasive popularity in Toronto, here's local artist (and friend of Torontoist) Antony Hare's recent rendition:

In Augusta, Georgia... Toronto next? (That could be a dare.)
