Comic Books Want To Be Free!

2006_05_05freecomics.jpgTomorrow, May 6th, 2006, is worldwide Free Comic Book Day! That means pretty much what you think it means: fine comic book shops across the globe are dispensing comics to those who wander through their doors. The event, designed to celebrate indie comic stores, is now in it's fifth year.

from the website:

Comic books are an original American art form, created in the early days of the twentieth century. They are fun to read, featuring a wide range of diverse storylines that capture the imagination of the readers, and have survived: the dominance of radio, the ubiquity of television, the spread of color and sound motion pictures, the rise of videogames, and the Internet. That's worth celebrating.
.

Not all comics are free, though, click here for the list of titles you can snag, a list which includes the new third volume of Toronto's own Scott Pilgrim.

You can find a list of participating stores and their locations by typing yr postcode into the form at the website. (It includes the usual supsects though, The Beguiling, 1,000,000 Comix, Silver Snail, The Watcher, and a few more!)
