Toronto Celebrates Earth Day
In case this week’s issue of Now isn’t reminder enough, tommorow is Earth Day. And there are plenty of Earth Day events around town. Downsview Park is holding a festival and massive tree planting. They’re trying to plant 1000 trees so there should be plenty for all. There’ll be a live animal show, face painting and Torontoist favourite, crafts!
If trees are too big and you’d rather plant something smaller head down closer to the water (Budapest Park, at the foot of Roncesvalles) for the Sierra Club’s Earth Day event. Gayla Trail, author of You Grow Girl, will be doing a seed starting workshop. Guerilla Gardeners from the TPSC will also be there.
Now the more curmedgeonly of you probably don’t care about tree planting or environmentally, eco-hippie crap you might exclaim. Well for you just head to your local Starbucks with an empty mug in hand, they’ll fill it free for Earth Day. We hope that’ll shut you up.
