Royce rolled in "Stick-Up City"?

Royce59.jpgRappers Royce Da 5' 9" and Choclair have recently been "jacked" in Toronto, according to a report last Friday.

Assuming the jacking was of the car variety (Royce was "jacked" while "cruising"), it would be second high profile rapper carjacks this year.

For those who believe the alleged jacking of the short-ish Detroit emcee did occur, this is a real bummer. But for the rest of us, the only troubling aspect is that the so-called news item characterizes Toronto as "Stick-Up City" - something we suspect is lacks merit. Even by the author's own admission, Stick-Up City is a strange nickname for Toronto, unless he means these. The five-foot, nine-inch rapper has also called bunk on all jacking claims:

I normally don't address rumors, but since so many of you have inquired about me getting "jacked", allow me to clear this one up. Allhiphop has a vivid imagnination, but no, I was not and never have been jacked. A few months ago, I was in Toronto shooting a video for "Unexplainable Hunger" with Choclair and Classified and haven't been back since. I've been in the studio working on my new album and ghost writing for...oops, can't tell you. Toronto, i love y'all!

So did Royce get jacked? Is Toronto really Stick-Up City? And who is Royce ghost writing for? Does anyone care? Are these rumours nothing more than heightism and Toronto-envy?

The video in question is posted below.

Don't sweat this "news item". It was from a hip hop rumours page ...the page they make crap up on when they're lacking web traffic. They probably saw that they weren't getting love from Canadian hip hop heads and made it up along with the name "Stick-up-city". How lame.

Nice vid though.
