Bloody Bikers, The City’s Fancy New Website and Beauty Queens
Everybody goes wall-to-wall reporting the arrest of five suspects to the biker massacre over the weekend. All of the men found dead in Shedden were associated or members of the Bandidos bike gang. The Star reports that some of the victims refused to follow orders. The Sun reports on the speculation that a drug binge might’ve been the cause. They interview a State-side Bandido Ed Winterhalder who points out that “The person who did the killing must have been a meth-head,” Winterhalder said. “Usually they have been up for three or four days and sleep deprivation does some strange things to you.” The Sun also reports on the possible link between some of the men and the towing industry. The event has also sparked discussion on changing laws around organized crime, the Post reports on that here.
The City has launched a fancy new website that looks at recent activities of council and other city initiatives. Building a Great City seems like something used to remind the electorate of all the great things the Mayor and council have done in the last couple of years, just in time for November’s election. We do enjoy some of the sillier photos (like this one) and the yearbook-esque photo of the 2003-06 council. Torontoist has one thing to quibble about though, the copy-editor in us completely noticed the lowercase ‘g’ in the site’s logo. Ugh.
Anyone who’s had a bike stolen will be cursing the storeowners still challenging the city’s plan for a computerized bike registration system. The plan has been stalled for the last six years because of court appeals from store owners who argue the system won’t work.
The cops have charged the 23-year old mother of the baby found dead in a Mississauga area apartment on Monday. No word on how the baby died.
Miss Universe misses her alma mater and will probably be missing it more when she moves to Thailand.
