Biker Massacre, Bingo Hall Beating and Streetcar Woes

Everyone reports on the eight men found murdered outside a rural Ontario town yesterday. The eight men were believed to be from the GTA. Fingers point to a feud between the Bandidos and Hell's Angels, although the Hell's Angels are saying they don't have anything to do with it. The Star reports on a police raid on a farmhouse and the Globe gives us this nice little context piece on biker gangs in Canada.

U of T Law jacks up its tuition again. A year spent cramming and stressing out over tort law will now cost you $17,000.

Police are looking for four women who beat a man outside a bingo hall for $1000 or so of winnings. The man later died in the bingo hall bathroom.

The TTC is in the market for new streetcars. The problem? Apparently our old system, unique geography (the slope of Bathurst St. is apparently tougher for the cars), and tight corners means most "off-the-rack" cars don't work for the city and need expensive modifications.

Anthony Reinhart looks at the city's new dog in parks strategy (DIPS) which has been getting public opinion for over a year. We said it once and we'll say it again, this might actually be an election issue considering that Reinhart digs up the fact that there's about a quarter million dogs in this city and some of them will defend the rights of their pooch to run free quite vigorously.
