College instructors are going into day two of their strike (one of the main issues is keeping classes small) and it's fairly late in the term which means College students might be missing out on end-of-term assignments, exams and more.
To make it worse, Ontario's post-secondary institutions will be allowed to jack up tuition an extra five percent! Yikes. But wait, Torontoist ponders that if colleges will be getting extra cash from increased tuition fees won't they have some financial breathing room to negotiate with striking instructors?
Regardless of that, it's a rough time to be a student in Ontario. We feel your pain.

I read somewhere, if the strike goes for 2 weeks, this semester is null.
I don't think students are going to lose their year, but they will have a better chance of keeping it the sooner the strike ends. You know how to make the strike end faster? Help the faculty who are out on the picket lines not over their salaries, but over class sizes. The number of full time faculty has gone down like 25% while the number of full-time students has gone up like 50% in the past ten years. It is in your interests as a college student to help the faculty strikers. So get out there on the picket lines. Tell your friends. Write letters to your local papers and student unions and get out there to help them.
