The Power of Art

2006_3_10sam.jpgThus far, rock photographer Andrew MacNaughtan has had a gorgeous and enviable career in photographing Canada’s hottest musicians. Torontoist is sure you are all familiar with his photographic work as he’s captured the likes of K-OS, The Tragically Hip, Avril Lavigne, Sam Roberts (pictured here) and Chantal Kreviazuk over the years.

For his latest show "Art Gives Hope: A Decade of Music Portraits" he’s compiled and donated his favourites of the past ten years and asked the artists to autograph their prints. The purpose? To showcase the power of art as the autographed pictures will be auctioned on the site with all proceeds going to assist families living with HIV & AIDS in Africa. Their goal is to raise over $100, 000 and to raise awareness of the MakePovertyHistory movement.

Torontoist will be sure to take in the show and put in a few bids. We hope you’ll be inspired to do the same.

"Art Gives Hope: A Decade of Music Portraits" opens to the public today, and runs until March 14th, at The Monte Clark Gallery in Toronto’s Distillery Historic District.
