Spring Music Explosion

2006_3_21laura.JPGThe temperature hasn't crept above freezing outside but that doesn't mean that you should stay in. There are a few crazy good shows in town tonight, and it's only Tuesday!

UK buzz band of the moment The Arctic Monkeys ($18.50) end their two night stand at the Phoenix. Across town Scandinavian popster Annie ($17.50) will try to exorcize all those demons of bad Scandinavian groups past.

If neither of these appeal there's Deep Dark United and Akron Family at the Music Gallery ($12-$15), cute kalimba playing charmer Laura Barrett (seen here) opens.

now who's coming to Annie with me!?

I'm sorry for this but I went to the Annie site and got a sample of her music and:

1. Ron, you are a bad person for thinking that she will redeem anything. She won't exorcise any demons but I doubt any will stick around; they have better taste than that.
2. Paige, I can only assume that you are a Lindsay Lohan fan.

Sweet mother of pearl.

Please take with a grain of salt.:)

You don't think Annie will redeem Aqua or Ace of Base? Wait, what is it with Scandinavian pop groups starting with A? Don't forget Abba!

Hey I kinda liked Aqua's one hit-thing. And even I (Mr non-dancy-pants) think that Abba could pump out a catchy tune. However, as much as I disliked my short Annie experience she is marginally better than Ace of Base. So, you might have a point.

How dare you suggest that Aqua needs redeeming?

I HAVE NO CO-EDITOR!

I thought annie's dj kicks album was pretty good. Check out "let me be your ladybug". It's insect disco!

J, I suggest you look into Annie's background and talent before comparing her to Lohan... She produced the entire album herself with help from Royskopp and Dr.X and Timo and some other very talented scandinavian DJs. (she's also a popular DJ too) Annie is no flash in the pan: her stuff may sound poppy but there's substance to it and she knows what she's doing.

PLUS she's cute as hell.

Pop doesn't have to be a four letter word.
