Fugitive Pieces: The Movie

2006_3_28fugitive.jpgThe Globe reports that Anne Michael's beautiful novel Fugitive Pieces is being made into a movie. Jeremy Podeswa will be providing the directoral hand and Robert Lantos the money. Bond girl and Austen heroine Rosamund Pike is cast alongside fellow Brit Stephen Dilanne (the Hours). Toronto plays itself.

Torontoist has read the book and it is easily one of our favourite Toronto novels, now if they'd only finish the movie adaptation of the In the Skin of a Lion all of our favourite CanLit would be in cinematic form.

I'm surprised they HAVEN'T made a film version of IN THE SKIN OF A LION yet, considering how it's a prequel (of sorts) to THE ENGLISH PATIENT, with a much more cinematic narrative. It also has a similar storyline to E.L. Doctorow's RAGTIME, which has already been adapted to film, theatre and musical theatre.
