First Chicago, Now Dallas

2006_3_15dallasgum.jpgToronto is pissing off American cities one at a time by stealing away movie productions. A couple of years back Toronto played 1930s Chicago for the eventual Oscar-winning movie musical, a move that probably irked a few people down in Chicago. It seems that the next city that'll be gunning for us is Dallas.

The bankrollers of the movie based on a 1980s drama about a wealthy Texas clan have put Toronto on a shortlist of places they might shoot. I'm sure they cite a number of reasons, our tax breaks, cheaper pay scales, slightly weaker dollar. But we all know the real reason, who'd want to hang out in Dallas?!

Actually, I hear that Dallas is a pretty happening place, believe it or not. Lots of urban renewal type stuff going on there. Of course, it's still in Texas, but that aside...

Personally, I think that Calgary or Winnipeg would make a much better Texas city... Houston would for sure pass as either, so I don't see why Dallas couldn't too.

Calgary posing as a Texan city? How stereotypical lol That's like casting Nova Scotia as Rhode Island

Yeah,
"Leave the stereotypes behind". Surely Vancouver could double for Phoenix or Winnipeg for Miami, er wait a minute.. Get a clue.

That is the greatest image that has ever been used in a post on this site.

Well Vancouver has played NYC a couple of times (most prominently in Rumble in the Bronx, the Jackie Chan film). The outer burbs have also "doubled" for
Smallville which is technically supposed to be in the midwest.

they dont make movies in canada because theyre good they make them there because theyre cheap, unlike australia which are cheap and good.

Great! Another film going to Canada. I just hope when they finally make a "You Can't Do That On Television: The Movie" it's filmed in Cleveland.
