False Advertising 2006: Wrigley's Hits A New Low

w.gifThe same team of minds that confused you with a Scottish talking stick of gum have taken it an EXTRA step with their latest marketing initiative.

Who exactly is winning with Quinn these days? After returning from an embarrassing Olympic defeat, Pat Quinn has led his Toronto Maple Leafs to three consecutive losses over the past week. The latest loss came at the hands of the provincial rival Ottawa Senators. The Senators and backup goalie Ray Emery beat Toronto for the seventh time this season and put the Leafs seven points back of the surging Montreal Canadiens for the Eastern Conference's final playoff spot. To add insult to injury, it was Team Canada forward, Dany Heatley who scored the winning goal and was the game's first star. If you can remember back a week and a half, it was while being coached by none other than Quinn that Heatley endured one of the coldest streaks of his young playing career.

Life-long Leafs fan and free-agent bust Eric Lindros officially called it a season following the loss. Lindros was practically in tears responding to questions about the required surgery he'll be receiving on his wrist. Only 3 games back from the original injury, Lindros re-aggravated the wrist in the game's second period. After only receiving a one-year contract and considering how things went for him this year, Lindros may have played his final game for Toronto.

And to Wrigley's... Some more realistic campaigns may have been "Underachieve with Quinn", "Miss the Playoffs with Quinn", "Embarrass your Country with Quinn" or just simply "Lose with Quinn"

I will be laughing at this all day long, and also every time I see an ad for this campaign in stores. Adrian and his sarcasm make my life complete.

Funny, I thought American fast food and making out with boys from Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama would make your life complete.

Ooooh, was that a cheap shot. I'm sorry.

Well, seeing as the Americans were all at home cheering on their own winning hockey teams and not out partying I didn't get to satisfy those needs.

Paige is as frustrated as Leafs ownership these days.. the team has also been shutout across various states this year.

I like Paige's uniform better....
