Canada & Fashion. Yes, They Really Do Go Together.

2006_3_31sabrina.jpgMore often than not, when you hear the words Canada & Fashion used in the same breath, you're likely to be met with blank stares and slacked-jawed silence. And that dear readers, is a shame. As any self-respecting Canadian "fashionista" will attest to, our fashion culture is sorely underestimated and shamefully lacking in support. But those in the know are trying to turn things around, and it is up to us to cheer our fashion elite on to stardom, at home and abroad. To that end, I cannot wait for the Ryerson School of Fashion "Mass Exodus: Open Concept 2006". Throughout the first week of April, students like Alex Snelgrove, whose designs are punk-princess cool, the innovative Hitchcock-inspired designs by Cara Stryver and the insanely luxurious, avante-garde and let us be open about it, sexy designs of Sabrina Chin will be strutting down the catwalk for those in the know. Tickets are all but sold out, but a better show showcasing vital and young Canadian style talent will not be found for a while to come. To find out more, check out at Mass Exodus.ca.

It's true. I'd say Mass Ex is surprisingly, nearly shockingly good, unless you've been before, in which case, you expect to be impressed. And it's a really fun show, too.
