Afghanistan Comes to Scarborough

2006_3_15zalmai.jpgTorontoist has been meaning to take the art bus up to the Doris McCarthy Gallery at U of T Scarborough and we just might tommorow night (March 16) for the opening of a photo exhibit by Afghani photographer Zalmai. Return, Afghanistan documents Zalmai's return to his native land after almost 25 years of living abroad. He first left at the age of 15 in the early 1980s became a Swiss citizen and a half-decent photographer, getting published in the NYT and Time magazine among other places.

For all you downtowners the bus leaves 401 Richmond at 6:30 and winds its way back to civilization downtown at 9:00. The ambassador to Afghanistan will be in attendance and there'll even be traditional Afghani music. All this and a ride home, what more do you want?
