Construction on the irksome Minto Towers, at Yonge and Eglinton. This could look like any number of things, but we think those crane-type things are robot arms coming out of the construction site to grab passing cars.

    Normally I really enjoy cranes but those things just freak me out! GET SOME REAL CRANES!

    I know it is probably a “joke” but, in reality, they aren’t cranes at all. They are cement pumps. The cement is being pumped from the cement trucks over the fencing. I have never seen a setup like that before though.. Pretty cool (and definitely a PRICEY way to be doing it!)

    I can see this from my window, actually. The activity there is unbelievable at times. They seem to have permission to block Yonge st traffic at will, for extended periods of time.

    They must have the money… over Christmas I saw a POLICE ESCORT to get a crane into Minto. It was a huge (real) cool crane and was on three seperate trucks… with two police cars stopping traffic to get the convoy up Yonge Street.

    I live in the area too… I sure do hope they finish soon, the traffic backups are ridiculous sometimes.
