Good Grief, Adam Brown!

theadambrown2.jpg

buminair.jpgThe Adam Brown, lynchpin of the Montreal independent music scene, played to an ever-rackety crowd at the regular Sunday night Wavelength show at Sneaky D(is)ees. Evidence of this racketiness were the numerous crowd-surfers, stage-joiners, and sold-out The Adam Brown CDs. The group, becoming something of a sensation around Toronto, had ran out of copies of their Even the Skies are Blue before even taking the stage - a bit of a rarity at Wavelength. Through a Dan Burke-organized fundraiser (so that The Adam Brown could financially recover after stolen equipment) and a popular MySpace page, there's already quite an Adam Brown awareness in the city amongst scene-people and to local record labels. For those unaware of The Adam Brown, the tag of 'power-pop-punk-DIY' should cover all bases.

theadambasia.jpgJoining the Teen Beat-good looks of lead singer Adam Brown for a particularly exciting song was singer-songwriter Basia Bulat, whom we've blogged about. Other excitement came during the aforementioned crowd-surfing - notice the above photo of someone's bum. After The Adam Brown came the Adorable-infused Township Expansion, followed by an authentic Henri and the Adorables surprise mini-set. Torontoist was initially against Township Expansion (we are against urban sprawl in general), but the set was quite pleasant, as was the Adorables.
