Candidates Gear Up for Election

chowpin.gifBarring any last minute grovelling from Paul Martin we’ll be waking up to an election campaign tommorow. Like last time the GTA is going to be a major battleground and the Liberals and the NDP are already bringing out their heavy hitters. Michael Ignatieff will be running in Etobicoke-Lakeshore despite some complaints amongst the riding association about his acclaimation.
Will the third time be the charm for Olivia Chow? She lost a little over a year and a half ago to Tony Ianno by a little less than a thousand votes and Ianno was rewarded with a cabinet position for winning the hard-fought race. Will this make him harder to unseat or has Liberal scandal taken some of the shine off Ianno?
Another important factor is that Chow will be giving up her council seat to run. Last time she didn’t and juggling council responsibilities and campaigning might’ve cost her the 1000 votes she needed. Torontoist is looking forward to another hard-fought campaign and hopes that Ianno and Chow will keep things clean.

I’ve always found Chow to be pretty useless, and really only interested in a good photo op…
…but thats just one mans opinion.

I can hear the sound of a multitude of potential club and bar owners clapping at the prospect of no Olivia Chow. She has been blocking the approval of Liquor Licenses in ‘clubland’ for the past 15 months.

Is it just me or is she way overexposed in the media?

  • Jean Townsend

    It’s just you!

    No, it’s not. She is.

    Two to one, I win!
