Remembrance Day

Mayor David Miller will be giving a Remembrance Day address at a service at Old City Hall this morning at 10:30. The service will also include a Colour Party Parade and music by the 7th Toronto Regiment Band, RCA and the Elmer Iseler Singers.

Ceremonies are scheduled to take place all over the city.

the poppy is actually a registered trademark (or something) of the legion. they've been sending websites notice not to post the poppy. so this is a fun experiment to see if they'll diss us.

full disclosure: i am a card-carrying member of the legion.

"a Colour Party Parade": this just sounds a bit too festive for the occasion.

The Colour Party refers to the group from any military organization who present the flags. It's a solemn parade, with lots of saluting.

And we can totally take the legion.
