Post Bills (for Art)

sculpture garden.JPGOne of Torontoist’s favourite city secrets is the cute little sculpture garden near King and Church streets. As the majority of day jobs that we’ve held in our life have, somehow or other, brought us near to this intersection, we have had pleasure of watching sculpture after sculpture appear every few months (our favourite for weirdness was the gigantic white baby’s head of a couple of years ago). We have also been known to complain that garden only houses one sculpture at a time, since we are known for our short attention span.
The garden’s current offering is Derek Sullivan’s Kiosk 2005, a recreation of a typical Parisian poster kiosk of the sort often photographed by Eugene Atget. The idea is that posters will get layered on the kiosk over time, altering it from it’s original artistic form. Art-lovers should consider themselves warned, however:

Be careful out there.

Some secret! Everyone knows about the Sculpture Garden.
I must admit that I too loved the Jiang Jie run.

Question – Why does Torontoist make every post sound like an old New Yorker Talk of the Town piece? ‘We’ this. ‘We’ that. Does that make Josh the Lillian Ross of your team?

  • Lillian Ross

    it sure does.

Hmmm, so whose the Harold to Josh’s Lillian. More importantly, can I be E.B. White or James Thurber?
