Torontoist Interviewed: “There are a-holes out there...”

josh.jpgYes there are. There are also times when Torontoist probably shouldn't be giving quotes to student newspapers. Last Monday night was one of those. In candid interview with Ryerson's the Ryersonian, T to the O to the Ist came up with a few un-imaginative, un-inspired things to say about our site and its place in the world. Here's some of the wreckage:

"I don't really know much about the web"
(Might as well include a "duh" here.)
"I'm not a blogger — I'm a writer"
(Yikes. Meant that in terms of aspiration...)
"Having an editor tell you what to do is shit sometimes"
(Jeez. An editor might have been smart in this instance.)

But since the article spelled absolutely everyone's name wrong, we're going to deny any involvement in this one. And from now on, Robert Fulford will be handling all our media relations.

So will you be dressing like this all winter?

Or are you just practicing for michelles john orr party?

their interview with me for capture the flag was horrible! there was no subject-verb agreement in my quotes and then suddenly, after spelling my name right for the whole article, they throw in two extra letters in the middle!

i totally understand the misquotes.

>>“People are trying to use it for marketing,” Errett says, pointing to recent e-mails he's received from agents masquerading as bloggers. “You've got to be aware.”

While he gets plently of free books, promos and tickets ...

So, what is your problem exactly? And does this mean you're against commentary (pro or con, it's usually the same thing far as the PR folk are concerned) on things that are being blatantly marketed (incl. yourself)? Could've fooled me ...

I like the outfit. You some layers on, but don't look bulky or fat. Have you been working out?

haw haw! I'm the bad guy!

If by "bad guy" you mean "idiot", then you sure are.

Now I remember why I didn't go to journalism school.
In other news, last week Torontoist got 7000 hits in a single day -- a site record -- right? Not 7,000 in a week...

We got 7000 hits in a single day?! Alright, who's been telling their friends to hit the refresh button over and over again?

it was the comics that attracted 7000 hits/day. yep.

adrian: i've been wearing that jacket for years.

kevin: i'm glad you see it...i don't really talk like this.

mark: i don't let pr firms or their employees blog on my site. pretty fundamental stuff. email me if you want me to explain this further.

butt lamb: you're so cute when you're frustrated.

jkelly: i think there are more reasons you didn't study journalism than that...

Josh, It's funny that you're so quick to bash the Ryersonian profile that YOU approached one of the staffers to write. And even funnier is the fact that you're holding the Toronto Life "profile" which did nothing for your site but expose it as less than interesting. I guess any publicity is good publicity. Next time you SELL yourself to the media - any kind of media - make sure that the reporter, and not YOU, makes the article a piece of full-of-shit-garbage.

jessica:
where's the bashing? they misspelled names, and there's nothing i can do about that. i can only take the blame for my bad quotes, which i've done. but i'm glad this is all so funny to you...

Wow Josh, you're really getting a beating over this!
