On this day last year, Torontoist received the "How to Post" email message, detailing posting, linking and all sorts of other neat blogging essentials. Exactly one year later, we still have the email. So this isn't our birthday, but more so the night our parents conceived us.
In the more literal sense of the word 'birthday,' it is our actual birthday today. For the occasion, we threw quite the barn-burner at the Boat on Friday night. Of note: Can-rock history when Peter Elkas and the Elkaholics were joined on stage by Chris Murphy of Sloan for a rollicking version of Chuck Berry's "Roll Over Beethoven." Canada's first act on V2 Records, the Meligrove Band, followed. Also, tremendous weirdness when Tommy Chong, of the hit comedy tandem Cheech & Chong, showed up requesting "at least two rock'n'roll songs in a row," and "any Eagles song." And that isn't even supposed to be funny. Randomness.

Hey, that's my photo on Torontoist! Rad!
Happy birthday, Josh-E.
Um... first, I heard that Chong was there. then I heard it was a farce to get a buzz about the night. now I hear he was there ... shady.
chong? buzz? hardly. although there remains speculation as to his true identity, i had no reason to doubt him.
I can't believe you actually slapped me in the face.. Although it's understandable.. I did look better than you in your own glasses at your own party.
ahhh. forgot to include that tidbit in the post. i did slap you in the face. you had it coming though.
Is Murph wearing those 'tennies that light up when you step? That would be really rad.
I am so sad to have missed on the boat festivities! happy birthday josh!
