Surplus U.

universitiesmatter.jpgWhat! Is! Going! On! Our sense of progressive superiority over Alberta has been crushed by a humongous Ivory Tower. The Alberta government are considering the prospect of free university. Advanced Education Minister Dave Hancock likes the idea of giving Albertan students two-years of university at a five-finger discount. But! And there's a lot of buts here, Hancock also is thinking of deregulation as an alternative to freeness - with only a free computer to first year students. We'd probably go for the paid tuition over the free comp (depending on hard drive space), but we like the line of thought here - although it could never happen in the population -heavy Ontario. Free education, though, is much better at preventing dumbness.
