Shana Tova, Toronto!
Torontoist would like to wish everyone a very happy Jewish new year. Rosh Hashanah starts at sunset tonight, and should be a cause for celebration, Jewish or no. Because when else are you not only allowed, but encouraged to dip your apple slices into a bowl of honey to ensure a sweet new year? Even if you’re not Jewish and don’t have any Jewish friends to latch on to, there is no shame in indulging in this behaviour in the privacy of your own apartment and patting yourself on the back for being multi-cultural. The most in-demand bakery this morning (and all weekend, too) is undoubtedly Harbord Bakery, equally beloved by Jews and non-Jews alike for the gorgeous loaves of challah and honeycake that fly off the shelves just before the high holidays. Good luck getting your hands one, and may it be a very sweet new year for all.
