Braaaaaaiiiiiiiiiins...Braaaaaaaiiiiiiiiins...

Maybe it's the alarming nearness of Hallowe'en (for which we still don't have an awesome enough costume idea), but Torontoist has had zombies on the brain lately (though, thankfully, not literally - our brains seem to be as intact and uneaten as ever). Last week we read Kelly Link's brilliant new book of short stories, Magic for Beginners (if you don't know what we're talking about, we strongly urge you to check it out immediately, along with her stunning first collection, Stranger Things Happen), which contains a story with what may be our favourite title for anything, ever, Some Zombie Contingency Plans.

Some of these plans might be put to good use this coming Sunday (October 23rd), when the third annual Toronto Zombie Walk gives the undead (or "alternately living", as we hear some of them prefer to be known) a chance to parade from Riverdale to the Eaton Centre. Anyone can participate, and if you feel inclined to get your drool on, or if you've just been craving braaaaaains lately, slap on some pasty make-up and meet up with your fellow zombies at 2 o'clock on Sunday afternoon in Riverdale Park.

To get you in the mood, find out whether or not you'd survive a zombie attack. TOist is an Official Survivor, but we'll be out of town on Sunday, so you'll just have to fend for yourselves.
