Just heard this guy on the radio, saying he was proud that he raised all this money to smash an IPod in just three weeks. It gave him a feeling of accomplishment, he said, to be able to go into the Yorkdale IPod store, buy the 20gb pod and smash it. SmashmyIpod brought three cameras in to surreptitiously document the event, and they plan to make a video. Fine, people hate the 'IPod revolution,' its legions of ear-budded loners and shark jumpers. But smashing a little gadgetry just to watch the cultish minions over at the 'genius bar' cry? Why?

Why not? I think that this type of demonstration is an attempt to deprogram those who hold the product up on a pedestal. Showing them that the product isn't all that magical, fantastic and desirable to one and all.
Yeah, that's a much better reason to raise $400 than to give it to Doctors Without Borders, or buy the iPod and give it to a ten-year-old cancer victim who doesn't belong to the iPod cult but just wants to listen to her own music in the hospital.
I mean, whatever -- it's not like I'm not irrationally spiteful too. But I've never solicited strangers' money in order to waste it making such a stupid point.
Clearly the ego-centric jarheads behind this pathetic stunt lack the mental facilities to develop any kind of clever/intelligent/tasteful commentary on the ipod revolution.
Shame on anyone who provides support for such idiocy.
i think they're just jealous.
I think you are all iCorrect!
Even a dead Rosa Parks agrees with you!

no need to raise money to smash iPod, I will smash your iPod for free
How about for halloween they dress up like Ned Ludd and stomp on ipods with sabots? I think there might be a loom or two that needs wrecking while they are at it. If they hacked it rather than trashed it would be more interesting...but that takes brains.
