The Mayor and the Miss, and Royson James Gets Shorty With Joey Pants

pantalone_speaking_small.jpg - We wanted the Mayor to hold his ground on the whole pageant pickle, if only because it's fun to have such a gosh darn ridiculous battle playing itself out on the City pages, but the Globe reports that Mr. Mayor and Miss Prettier-than-the-entire-World kissed (demurely) and made up this weekend at TIFF.

- But Mr. Mayor's shorter compatriot did no making up. Joey Pants gets a bizarre dressing down from Royson James in today's Star. The columnist uses Pants' height, lack therof really, to critique the guy's erratic performance of late, and seems to think the Mayor's right hand is better when he acts shorter:

The tiny deputy must be losing it.
Here's a suggestion or two, my friend, my fellow alumnus from Harbord Collegiate, my buddy, my pal.
Stick to what got you here: sensible, practical, below the radar. Stay short, quiet, effective.

Weird to harp on the public servants lack of vertical in such a snippy fashion, but no weirder than Mayor Dave boogying down with a pageant queen. 'Stay Short, Quiet, Effective!' And City Hall turned 40! Perhaps we could all chip in and buy the building some windows for this milestone birthday!
