Peter Jennings Dies at 67

jennings.jpgToronto-born journalist Peter Jennings died last night, losing a relatively short battle with lung cancer.
Mr Jennings started with CTV at age 23, and only retired took leave as ABC news anchor last April in order to receive chemotherapy. The on-air personality of ABC news for more than two decades, Mr Jennings was arguably the most successful Canadian journalist to ever work in the United States. Before he retired, Mr Jennings revealed that he was deeply affected by the September 11 attacks. He quit cigarettes around 1980 only to resume smoking after 9/11. Read a PJ biography here.     another bit of sad news…ibrahim ferrer passed away as well. i loved that man.

    He didn’t actually retire…he was just not able to be on the air. But his name remained on the program throughout. It was always “World News Tonight with Peter Jennings…substituting tonight…” and then the name of the person.
