The Making of a Medley
Since Torontoist generally concentrates on peeving off the city's pizza eaters, it becomes quite the spot when commenting about the spate of gun violence in the city. But the situation has long since become unavoidable.
We notice that Royson James thinks no else in the city cares, the Globe and Mail suggests that guns aren't coming from the US, and John Tory thinks he's didn't get beat in the last mayoral election. We also notice these shootings resemble that of a gang-war, not random gun-play. Much like the Mayor has said over and over, gangs are largely the result of poverty, underemployment and generally poor neighbourhood infrastructure. While Miller is characterized as 'soft' on crime by conservative editorials, his views appear more balanced than say that of, ohhhh, Councilor Giorgio Mammoliti. This is the man that wishes to impose a 11 pm curfew on children 16 years of age and under, irrespective of their role in gang violence. Mammoliti's ideas are the definition of knee-jerk, while Miller and Chief Blair attempt to produce actual results. One hopes with another meeting this Thursday, Miller and McGuinty can get together on more practical solutions.

I believe that Mammoliti's comments came as a result of a 4 year becoming a victim of the gang wars a couple of weeks back while on the streets in the middle of the night. Dude.
I don't care either way, I'm over 16 and I could go out any night of the week I want. So I'm fine.
George Mammoliti is an embarrasment and proof that most people care very little about municipal politics.
Notice that in many municipal contests the incumbant has an easy win?
it's clear that more recreation programs for youth will go a long way in fixing the situation. lets hope the mayor and the council sees that.
...like blaming it on the Americans. Very practical and scores bonus points with the public.

we must finish that judicial system where the crook goes free with anybody's money... where the 14 year old murderer goes free with two very sweet slaps on his face (the victim is buried) and after his sister cries on the tv she wants her brother back, newly educated and freshly bloody with the blood of any body of us and having a parole after 2 hours no slaps on face... why we mock on each other?
the longterm solution is not jail and electric chair, ok but the by the meantime we must clean our environment, our human trash must go to the garbage bin, everything in its place, human garbage as well. We can create a long term solution, but it takes more effort than talk empty words...
Collect all of the guns, licensed or not, 24 hours to give them in the closest police station or fine of 50K (equivalent jail) hunters, we are sorry about them, collectors we are sorry about them, in museum we can see all the valued, the rest is ... playing with everybody's nerves. hunter wants to hunt will rent a registered gun at site from a police station under 24 hrs surveillance and so on.
Environment will be clean, bear and fox and wolfe be happy... we all more quiet!
kids under age should not watch shit tv programs how to kill each other in no time, no tv games allowed in stores in such a case.

it is not easy it is not fast... but clean the city first after we can talk about everything else, i see too much right for the ones should not have any, and less to the ones must have all to defend themselves...
Miller is an idiot. 99% of politicians are just concerned with how much they can steal and extort from the hard working tax payers of this country. What's wrong with a curfew for kids anyways? Shouldn't parents be responsible for raising, loving and caring for their kids? They shouldn't be running wild and free. They need guidance. Although there is no one cause and consequently no single answer to the problem of violence, parents are a big problem. Oh and our politicians are pr*cks.
Curfue 4 kids is rediculous...this is 2005, NOT the 40's 50's OR 60's...young kids are sometimes the head of a household and young kids are parents who want to provide 4 their kids...why chastise THEM because of the actions of a few? And I can't vote 4 ANY pollititian putting resources in making curfues for kids or banning rappers from entering Canada. That shows that they either don't take the issues surrounding the violence seriously, or they are just completely CLUELESS and I don't want no clueless man as MY leader.
People say that the reason as to why people are comiting crimes is because of rap and hip hop but it's not it's because people choose to comit crimes and because the population is increasing, obviously that means that there is going to be more crime in the society, but there is other issues that the people should be paying attention to like rappists, petifiles, ect, all people stress over is the gun violence how about watching your back when it's late at night and your walking to the bus stop what if there is a rappist that lives near by what do you think will happen there, going back to what I was talking about, half these young kids may carry or have possetion of a gun that doesn't mean that they are going to be shotting at the whole world, but half these young kids that carry a gun are coloured but they are in war with themselves the violence won't stop they will just keep on killing themselves so why don't people just leave it alone let them kill themselves as long it's not affecting us, should just pay attention to other things, and I think the same about the pitbull band I thought that it was wrong to band the whole race of pitbulls it wasn't the dogs fult it was the owner not the dog, dogs don't think for themselves they follow the owner they try to make their owner happy by doing what the owner says, Ishoul know because I own a pitbull myself and she is good girl and is good towards humans I think that was just evil what the law has done with the pitbull band I love pitbulls and I love my dog and that is how I feel about everything that has gone wrong in this world and society.-
gun violence in Toronto...
everyone seems to thing that lissoning to rap music is not doin anything to there childern i can say it is.in toronto and the big city childern at the age of 13 to 18 are having childern very young and they do bring there kids up around this rap music and they do live in poverty with less money. then the young teen mother start to beleave that selling drung is ok and then they start using them that what starts all the battles and fight between gangs and such.
people can even sleep in there own houses anymore cause they have brought there family in to it and there goes inacent life so maybe people should really thnk about what they are doin go back to school get you education go to college and get a good job and become somthing more usefull...
