The city recently announced that it found its first West Nile infected birds. Other than slathering yourself in DEET what can you do to avoid getting bitten by mosquitos? Citronella candles might work if you stay within the radius of smoke. But as anyone who’s spent anytime in the tropics or up north can tell you, the mosquito is one tenacious and persistent insect.
The best advice the city can give is to get rid of standing water around your property. Good advice considering that if those bodies of standing water get too deep it may cause a drowning hazard for the kids in your neighbourhood. None of us want that.
