What Women Want?

football101.gifTwo things you may not know: The Toronto Argonauts won the Grey Cup last year (go team!), and a select group of coaches and players (the Argos are a diverse group, counting disgraced NFLers, tireless vets and All Canadian sports studs among their roster) are offering sports-dumb women a unique service: a crash course in the rules of the game and initiation into the eternal mysteries of the CFL.
So ladies are you interested? No, us neither. But why not give it a shot. You may learn something, e.g., football is even more boring and/or complex than you ever imagined.
“Football 101″ info sessions break the action down from kickoff to player positions and play formations, and participants walk away with a full stomach (dinner is included) and two complimentary tickets to a game at the Rogers Centre (formerly known as the SkyDome). Seminars cost $59.95 (knowledge always comes with a price) and are on a first come, first served basis.
Football 101 sessions: June 23, July 7, Aug. 10 and Sept. 8 (6:30 p.m. start time).

Psssh, I gave a friend of mine a crash course on football in 15 minutes. It was extremely basic of course, but we had run out of things to talk about.
Even more hilarious is my explanation of baseball to an Australian using a square shaped coaster.

Did they really have to call it Football for Women though? I mean gosh darnit, there are plenty of queer folks and less than sporty straight fellows who might like to make new friends with newly acquired knowlege of useless football terminology; where is their night, huh?

i agree totally danielle. things might be different if there were a professional women’s football league though (is there?). then again this is the one of the few professions/pasttimes that macho jocks like boy reporter can legitimately call their own, so i’m not sure if there ever could be a wcfl…or could there?
