Live 8 confirmed for Toronto
Bob Geldof, the Nobel Prize winning, hunger hating, debt relieving, musician and activist, officially announced Toronto as the Canadian location for Live 8. With less than a month to go before the July 2nd concert and Canada Day events taking place all over the city the on the 1st, planning Live 8 is going to involve a lot of tough decision making. Where is it going to be? Who’s going to play? Torontoist comes through with a list of available performers to help out the concert reps, before the 10am Tuesday press conference.
Rumour has it the Barenaked Ladies, Jann Arden, Our Lady Peace, and Billy Talent are on board, but what about these potential additions:
Rolling Stones
Tragically Hip
Michael Jackson
k-os
Kardinal Offishall
Broken Social Scene or any off-shoot band
Arcade Fire
At Downsview? Or at least NOT Barrie Park?

Are we going to buy into this crap by Sir Geldof, he says: "The gigs in the Toronto area and Tokyo were chosen in part to pressure the Canadian and Japanese governments to give aid to Africa... Three weeks ago Europe agreed, unbelievably, to double aid, throwing the ball back to the Yanks, the Japanese and the Canadians"
I'd be surprised if anyone turns out unless the Stones and the Hip perform. Save the folks at Downsview all the trouble and have the concert downtown where people who care for this type of cause will attend.
well put. you might be right about that.
hey, i totally agree logan! could be a first.
