4. The Madison Avenue Pub (14 Madison Ave)
The Madison isn’t as visually obnoxious as more notorious meet markets like the in-hiatus Brunswick House, but make no mistake, the two Annex area pubs have much in common. The ‘Maddy’ is a thinly veiled ‘Brunny’ — just with higher prices, more hair gel, older clientele and higher hook-up ratios. Grown-up frat boys are very forward, and the girls with the new outfits love the attention. It’s the same culture as the derrty Brunswick, but somehow holds an air of respectability; making everyone feel a little better about doing the nasty the same night. “Oh we met at the Madison one night, it was like totally magical,” is the line everyone’s heard at least once. Lots of patio space means lots of sandals, and lots of sandals means lots of pick-up lines.
