Breaking: The 360 Does A 180

360_logo.jpgWithout notice, and just two days before the North By Northeast festival, the bar/live music venue The 360 has closed down. Well, not officially. But, according to sources, they’ve changed the locks and fired their staff, which is a pretty tell tale sign. Rumour has it that the Legionnaires have had enough punk rawk and put their foot down . Why now? Or, more importantly, what now?

    I find it strange that Torontoist uses random internet banter between a bunch of strangers as a source for information and news. Isn’t that a bit lazy? That thread isn’t even about the 360 (there is a specific one on the Toronto board). It’s just a bunch of people making plans to meet up for drinks and I can’t imagine it being useful or interesting to anyone but those involved.

    good q, bono. either a new venue altogether, or screw the waiting list and redistribute the displaced bands over the rest of the festival.
    but here’s hoping they’ll honour their bookings, and open for these three last nights.

    If they’ve changed the locks and closed without warning, then that’s unfortunately pretty unlikely. I don’t want to speculate, but that doesn’t seem like something you’d do if you weren’t worried about trouble at the final shows, property damage, and so forth. Still, you’re right, here’s hoping.

    I just don’t get why Torontoist has linked to that message board for a story on more than one occasion. That this has been done is not an assumption but a fact. Whether or not it was the original inspiration for your post is not what I was referring to — I’m saying that Torontoist has pointed to that message board in this way before. And it’s not really interesting or useful to read a bunch of kids bantering about their evening plans.

    you suggested i used stillepost as a source (see first comment), which is a reading comprehension issue on your part. i have never used stillepost as a source, nor would i ever. i only wrote, “check stillepost for more” – i never mentioned that stillepost was factual, legitimate or otherwise newsworthy. i simply implied that the 360 was a topic of conversation there, and i found that interesting. i like stillepost, and will continue to read and link to it. i really don’t see the problem with that.
