Make Me!

aaup.gifTOist fell in love with artist and actress Kirsten Johnson's sock puppet paintings a few years ago. Her Touchy Feely socks were whimsical, but no less seriously painted for it. Now she's got a new body of work called Make Me, which features devious kids getting into all kinds of trouble. The show opens this Saturday at The Academy of Spherical Arts, and travels to Ottawa a few months later. She does commissions too, some of which are quite amazing. Donations are now being accepted for a TOist-commissioned portrait of you-know-who and his brooms.

Yeah, I loved Kirsten Johnson's sock puppet paintings too. Maybe we could tip her off to Queens Park? Doesn't the speaker or the premier get their portrait painted?
