Last night, before catching the opening night of Darren O'Donnell's A Suicide-Site Guide to the City at Buddies in Bad Times, Torontoist stopped in Kathmandu (417 Yonge St., 416 924 5787) for a little Indian/Nepalese pre-theatre dining.

While we were chowing down on some Lamb Saag and reading a day-old Metro -- oh, Enza the Supermodel, will your antics never stop? -- who should walk in to the eatery but Da Vinci himself: actor Nicholas Campbell. Since Torontoist regularly sees Campbell's craggy mug on telephone poles around the city, spying the CanCon celeb in the flesh made us do a double take.

The horse racing fan and star of New Waterford Girl didn't stay at Kathmandu long, mind you. After ordering take-out -- 10% discount! -- Campbell headed outside, lit up a cancer stick, and disappeared down Yonge. He must have come back for his food at some point, but presumably we were too engrossed in Donovan Bailey's Trans4m You column to notice.

As for Kathmandu, Torontoist found the lamb in the Lamb Saag a little fatty to be honest. But the Saag part was Saagtastic and the vegetables, beets and Naan bread that came with the dinner special were just fine. So was the price: the dinner specials (the other option was Butter Chicken) were $9.99 and very filling. And the service was quick, which left us plenty of time to saunter over to Buddies in time for the show.
