Juno Nominations: Does it Smell Like Butt in Here?

2005_02_08junos.gifSomething was out-of-place at yesterday's Juno announcements in the Liberty Grand. It wasn't Juno host Brett Butt, because he was in full effect. Nor was it PopWherry, who may or may not be the fifth member of Sum 41. Nope, the sore thumb was Torontoist. We didn't have much of a schmooze going on, and ended up just eating sandwiches in the corner. Even former Kingstoner and Idol ninny Ryan Malcolm gave us the snub. What's up with that? The whole event felt like that (Smog) song, "Ex Con." You know, the one where he sings, "Alone in my room / I feel like such a part of the community / but out on the streets / I feel like a robot by the river / looking for a drink."2005_02_08junos2.gif

Anyway, we also tried to take a photo of East Coast cool guy and nominee Matt Mays, but that bald head in the picture is just too distracting. The complete list of nominees - which includes Feist getting a Best New Artist nomination for her second album - can be found here.

Who watches Corner Gas? Can somebody tell me what kind of "numbers" this show has? Is it really worth watching? Is it worth the drive to Acton?

Malcolm snubbed you..are you for real?! Ha!
He’s a LOSER...back in the day he only played at Stages nightclub in K-town! He was much cooler then. NOT!

p.s. where's the pic of you and your buddy K-Os?

Ryan Malcolm isn't even from Kingston; I don't know why he says that he is???

I went to highschool with him - in Napanne! His parents used to have a restaurant that he sang at, on Main Street, called "A bit of Nostaligia".

little known fact: ryan malcolm was once an opening act for yours truly. he did a cover of oasis's "talk tonight," and shortly after my musical ensemble rocked the house with our very own version of "nautical disaster." i've also been known to sing pulp's "common people" and various bob dylan songs. i just thought i'd throw that in. as for k-os, he didn't show. and even if he did come, i was a small fish in a big pond. so i probably couldn't get to talk to him. good sammys though.
