FilmFridays: Nothing New So Let's Revue

dallaire_200x204.jpgUnwowed by the one-man melodrama machine that is Sean Wright Penn, TOist is going to pass on seeing his latest offering on the bigscreen this week. Then there's the Pretty Woman redux with Dermot Mulroney as Julia Roberts, The Wedding Date. Think we'll skip that too. Instead, we'll have to go back to the stuff we didn't manage to catch in weeks past, or perhaps visit a theatre that doesn't have confetti-themed carpet, and an in-house taco bell.
- If you're unemployed, or able to take really long lunch breaks, check out the The World's Best Commercials at Bloor Cinema, 2 pm, though we hear this year's offering is a bit of a mixed bag.
- Shake Hands With the Devil, a Rwandan doc about Romeo Dallaire, free of Nic Nolte, is at the Cinematheque tonight at 6:30pm.
- For fans of David Gordon Green and 'naturalism' (read: boring movies), Undertow plays the Paradise Cinemas tonight.
- And if you like feel good French films, and singing school boys (don't!), then see Les Choristes, the kind of film that would flop in anglaise, but seems charmingly artsy in a foreign language, where all nuance is lost and all cheeziness forgiven.
