Everybody's Working for the Weekend

Those wise sages at Loverboy know what they're talking about! Torontoist spent a good part of the week recovering from the amazing Wavelength Fifth Anniversary shows last weekend. This weekend seems to be just as packed with musical goodness.

Tonight, Broken Social Scenester and Apostle of Hustle Andrew Whiteman will be bending the rules of space time and playing three shows: two at the Drake, at 8pm and 10pm (sold out) and at the Toronto Public Space Committee fundraiser. No word on whether he'll be driving a Delorean to and from each show. If you're looking for something more indie check out the power-pop group Spitfires & Mayflowers at Rancho Relaxo or the underwear clad, Boy George be-friending Kids On TV at a fundraiser for Aids Education in Africa at the Gladstone.

Tommorow night the Drake is celebrating their first anniversary by bringing back the legendary Martha and the Muffins (yep, that's them below). Members of the band will be playing their first set in 17 years! That's almost as old as a few Torontoist contributors. Boy Reporter is probably going to be watching Peterborough's finest The Silver Hearts at the Silver Dollar.

When we get up on Sunday we'll crawl over to the Gladstone to help out the amazing folks at Shameless magazine launch their spring 2005 issue and end the weekend with the Bicyles at Sneaky Dee's. The Constantines love them, so they're probably doing something right.
