SpongeBob Besieged!

SpongeBob has had a rough year. As we reported earlier, his likeness was lifted from Burger King's across America. And now, he's facing a set of attacks that have besieged many of his cartoon brethren in the past (Ren and Stimpy, The Smurfs). Yup, a handful of U.S. religious groups are saying that SpongeBob's latest "pro-homosexual video" is an attempt to "brainwash" kids." Actually, it's a video about tolerance, with no explicit mentions of sexual identity, but it does have Whoopi Goldberg in it. If TOist was a U.S. Religious lobby, we would have protested on that ground alone.
In these trying times SpongeBob needs our support, sexy sidekick or no.
