Who Will Be Martin’s Next Monkey Boy?

2005_01_14mckenna.gif2005_01_14peterson.gifFrank “I Don’t Do Federal Elections” McKenna
vs.
David “Corner Store Crunk” Peterson
The Issue: While it is widely suspected that the decision is already made, Torontoist still wonders who is better suited to be the next am-bad-ass-ador to the United States of America?
The Players:
Frank McKenna, former New Brunswick Premier:
Successfully governed a small and sometimes silly province somewhere east of Montreal (jokes!). McKenna isn’t a diplomat, or even a politician anymore, but is somehow the front-runner and is deciding whether to take the position. He is a millionaire friend of GW’s. He has corporate ties to largely evil American companies too.
David Peterson, former Ontario Premier.
Sometimes overconfident Ontario Premier wanted desperately to bring alcohol sales to corner stores. That seems to be a hit with some people, but is it worthy of diplomat status? Remember, according to Lethal Weapon 3, diplomats have immunity and are allowed to kill people.
The Winner: Although the two have fairly similar credentials, Peterson doesn’t have the same conflict-of-interest issues that are plastered all over the corporate friendly McKenna. Edge goes to Peterson.

It’s now official, Frank’s the man.

Me, I’m glad. Josh, I’m disagreeing with you again. Nothing against David Peterson, who is great, but I honestly think McKenna will do an amazing job. He knows the people in charge, he knows business, and he’s going to fight hard for Canada.

yeah i guess it might be more pragmatic for mckenna to be the guy. i’m a big fan of diplomacy, and, for that, it’s a good move. he’s no bill graham, but he’ll be good at playing golf with george. the next question: will frank be our future PM?
