To Watch and Be Watched

2004_11_30asseenontv.jpgGood news for reality television fans, and better news for reality television fans who are already in relationships but still want to date: A new reality television series is coming to Toronto based on discreet networks for cheating spouses.

The show will focus on The Ashley Madison Agency, a real life matchmaking service that caters to married and attached people seeking affairs. The Toronto-based agency is the largest of its kind in the world, using the catchphrase, "When monogamy becomes monotony." The show will "delve into why people stray, profiling actual members and following them as they make connections, play trysts and go on dates." Of course the actual premise of the show will cause controversy among the Cheaters crowd, but the real issue here is the Foucaldian relationship with cameras: Is reality tv an updated panopticon?

lol, that is so funny, 'cheating' on camera. It's like flying underwater. Although if the show involves people getting voted off, and the winner gets $1,000,000, then I am so watching.

Are they still holding auditions?
Where do I sign up?
